Future Falcons flock to CHSW and CACTC

The brutally cold temperatures could not keep Future Falcons away from Cranston High School West on Sunday afternoon. The annual open house event, designed to let future students and parents of Cranston West and the Cranston Area Career and Technical Center, housed on the West campus, check out the schools and all they have to offer their students, drew hundreds of parents and students.

CACTC's new director, Zachary Farrell, was on hand to meet and greet potential students as they toured the 12 programs offered by the school, including the JROTC program, housed at Cranston High School East. CHSW principal Tom Barbieri, along with his administrative staff, faculty members, members of CPS central administration and the school committee, as well as former and current students, put on an hour-long presentation for guests in the newly-renovated Alumni Auditorium, showing and telling all that West has to offer for academics through the college level, award-winning theater, sports and clubs, including a new and improved high school schedule which will provide students the opportunity to explore many more course options, and to delve more deeply into their chosen courses of study each semester.

Applications for the CACTC pathways, now expanded to four-year programs as of next fall, are due by February 16. To learn more about Cranston High School West and CACTC, visit their websites at cpsed.net/chsw and cpsed.net/cactc.
