Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are down three cents this week, according to AAA Northeast.
AAA Northeast’s March 2 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.43 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is the same as the national average. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 7 cents lower at $2.36 per gallon.
“Healthy stock levels and cheaper crude prices have alleviated pain at the pump,” said Lloyd Albert, Senior Vice President of AAA Public and Government Affairs. “However, maintenance season and the upcoming switchover to summer blends could break the downward trend in coming weeks. At the same time, we are also watching the impact of the coronavirus and what that could do to demand.”
The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 30 cents, from a low of $2.29 to a high of $2.59.
