With its tournament title hopes on the line, Gershkoff Post 20 turned to ace Cam Harris and he delivered a fabulous 4-hitter in 97 pitches to help the Rhode Island team win the semifinal game and advance to the BP Invitational title game at Mulcahy Stadium.

Harris struck out seven batters in seven innings and allowed four hits and one walk. He also got a double play and a few other web gems behind him.

This was the first loss for Juneau (15-1) on the summer and the first time in three years the team didn't score a run.

Credit Gershkoff (9-7) for effective pitching, hitting and defense.

Harris was in the middle of it all.

Batting from the No. 7 spot, he went 1-for-2 with a sacrifice and two RBIs. He drove in the first run with a sac fly in the fourth inning, scoring Drew Spirito. In the sixth he knocked in Thomas Barbieri with a single.

Harris also started a 1-6-3 double play in the fourth inning.

Andrew Clesas and Barbieri each went 2-for-3 and combined to score three runs.

Juneau did not play poorly. Not at all. The Midnight Suns didn't make an error, they hit the ball hard and Brock McCormick was on point on the mound.

He pitched all six innings in just 77 pitches, scattering seven hits and one walk. He was around the plate all day and worked well with his catcher Chase Foster, who threw out a baserunner to end the fifth inning.

Harris and McCormick were ready to go as the first five innings lasted only 55 minutes. The game took 72 minutes.

Massimo Feroce was masterful over his seven innings of work, needing just 85 pitches to polish off the Post 1 Eagles in a 3-hit shutout to keep his team in the title hunt at the BP Invitational at Mulcahy Stadium.

Feroce threw first-pitch strikes to 15 of 25 batters and was never threatened in a dominating performance in the quarterfinals.

The right-hander worked around three hits and four walks while striking out two and getting a double play behind him.

Post 20 Gershkoff pounded out 11 hits, including two doubles from Drew Spirito and one by Evan Smith.

Spirito and Nate Poshkus each reached base all four times. Spirito went 2-for-2 to go with a hit by pitch and walk. Poshkus singled three times, walked and drove in two RBIs.

The team will play tomorrow in one of two semifinals; the only question will be as the No. 1 or No. 2 seed out of Pool B.

Noah Cook had two RBIs and kickstarted a beautiful double play after a nice sliding stop and underhand scoop for the 4-6-3 twin killing.

Speaking of double plays, West turned a pair of them, including one to end a nightmarish seventh inning when Rhode Island tacked on five runs.

Shortstop Jack Opinsky was in the middle of both double plays and also made a college-level backhanded stab in the hole, but made an errand throw denied him a chance at making arguably the web gem of the tournament.

West pitcher Luke Langnes pitched better than his number indicated: five runs (three earned) in six innings. Take away a brutal first inning and he pitched well. He was especially sharp over the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings when he retired 12 of 15 batters.
