At a time of year when budgets are already stretched thin, the Student Council at Gladstone Elementary School saw an incredible level of generosity as they hosted a "Sharing is Caring" gift drive for patients at Hasbro Hospital.
"We went over the intercom and talked about how we wanted to raise money for kids who needed gifts at the hospital," said Ben Poirier. "We collected $302 all together. There were so many one dollar bills, we were so surprised."
The donation drive lasted approximately a month and on Tuesday members of the student council met Principal Susan Buonanno at Toys R Us in Warwick, where they shopped for the gifts to be donated.
"They did a great job shopping, they had their carriages and picked out great gifts," said Principal Buonanno. "They were very organized and got the most for their money."
The gifts were dropped off at Hasbro Hospital on Thursday by a parent volunteer.
