Happy for holiday meals

TO THE RESCUE: Always to the rescue are members of the Cranston Fire Department who volunteered to deliver Thanksgiving Holiday Meals to seniors in Cranston. Picking up their individually designed bags are Deputy Chief David DiMaio, Lt. Will Morrocco and Deputy Chief James Beckman.

EARLY BIRDS: Also participating in the annual tradition of delivering Thanksgiving meals to seniors were members of the Cranston High School West football team. Mayor Allan Fung and Head Coach Rob Malo praised the team for their willingness to help and to volunteer their time.

TEAM SPIRIT: Always known for volunteering are members of the Cranston East football team who participated in the delivery Thanksgiving meals. Here they are pictured with Mayor Allan Fung.

Each year, the City of Cranston with Cranston Senior Services delivers Thanksgiving meals to seniors who would have been home alone during the holiday. Volunteers delivered approximately 400 meals to residents in the community the day before Thanksgiving. The next holiday meal delivery is scheduled for Christmas on Dec. 21 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. If you are available to volunteer and deliver a meal, please contact Volunteer Director David Quiroa at Cranston Senior Services at 780-6180. Each holiday meal delivery bag is hand decorated by students from Dutemple Elementary School and Woodridge Elementary School as well as seniors enrolled in Adult Day Care at the Senior Center.
