NEWS / EVENT RELEASE:

HARRIS "HERSHEY" ROSEN FEATURED AT RI AUTHORS EXPO, DECEMBER 2ND AT RHODES-ON-THE-PAWTUXET

Harris, "Hershey" Rosen, of Providence, former CEO of the iconic RI company, School House Candy, will be a featured author at the free RI Authors Expo, December 2nd from 10am to 5pm at Rhodes-on-the-Pawtuxet in Cranston. Rosen's book, "My Family Recrod Book" addresses the importance of pre-planning and organization, both in business and for one's family and personal life.

"The breadth of knowledge about the mechanics and logistics of one's life that resides almost exclusively in our own heads can create chaos if we are not around. Whether it's a long vacation, an extended illness, or our own untimely death, my experiences over decades in helping to eliminate chaos and create peace of mind for others led me to write this book. Others will be able to embrace the easy, step by step plans in this guidebook, helping all those around them who may have to pick up without a moment's notice to manage simple and complex systems around them, when they aren't usually the one to do so.

Rosen applies the advice he received in his first year at Harvard University in that the goal is not to memorize information, but rather to learn where to get it. As the CEO of School House Candy for 40 years, he first developed his system to locate any item housed in five factories, covering 600,000 square feet. Rosen was also a Financial Control Officer in the U.S. Army, where he received a Letter of Commendation for improvement to its worldwide accounting system. In semi-retirement, Rosen went on to become a mediator and settled over 200 disputes for the state of Rhode Island and The Community Mediation Center of Rhode Island. He also team taught management courses at the University of Rhode Island, where the co-professor said he "enthusiastically challenged the textbook with real-life experiences, to the delight and edification of the students."
