Impeachment on what grounds?

An Open Letter to the RI Congressional Delegation:

I have been following the calls from all of you for the impeachment of President Trump and have to ask you what are the grounds?

So far, we have heard nothing but hearsay evidence regarding the Ukraine issue, which is not admissible. Before that, it was collusion with Russia that was thoroughly dispelled by the Mueller Report.

I fully understand the impeachment process and feel your stance is based upon nothing of substance but more clearly upon partisan politics and a desire to overturn the 2016 election

Where was your call to investigate Hillary Clinton for mishandling classified material? Or Joe Biden for his threats to withhold funds from the Ukrainian government while serving as vice president? Or John Kerry for trying to undermine the current president through his dealings with the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran? Something that patently violates our laws.

Given the 1998 Treaty of Mutual Legal Assistance between Ukraine and the United States, where is the issue with the president’s conversation with the president of the Ukraine?

I do have an issue, however, with the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Adam Schiff, reading to Congress a version of the president’s conversation with the president of Ukraine that simply doesn't exist. He was supposedly reading the exact transcribed version of the call, but he completely changed the words to make it sound like something that it wasn’t. As the president has characterized it, "Adam Schiff therefore lied to Congress and attempted to defraud the American public.”

Wasn’t Schiff’s script designed to deceive, inflame and anger the American public? Why didn’t he read the actual transcript? And, more importantly, why have you not questioned the veracity of his statements?

“We get the government we deserve!”

He’s the most immoral, incompetent, corrupt leader we’ve ever seen. That should be enough right there. Alan, what is one thing he has done that a positive for this country? We are th laughing stock of every country out there. November 2020 can’t cone fast enough

William P. he is kind of a goof-ball, but I love all of his judicial picks at every level... I voted for him knowing that he would have the ability to pick numerous judicial seats; especially, Supreme Court Justices. Folks do it all the time, they vote for someone for only one particular reason (I am not going to name, names, but you know what I am talking about); and in this case that is exactly why I voted for him and why I will vote for him again... And I will be perfectly honest with you, he has done exactly what I wanted him to do as President. I have no regrets; I only hope he can continue to place conservative justices throughout our country's various courts.

I remember listening to my parents talk about the Clinton impeachment hearings and one thing stood out from the rest. They said, what a man does in private is manifested in public. I didn't know that that mean at the time. Later I understood it to mean that if Clinton lied about having sex to the nation, he would lie about anything. In our house that equaled immoral and unethical. So as I watched the run up of Trump's campaign and subsequent win, I wondered where all the older people that were so upset with Bill Clinton were and why weren't they speaking out against the immoral and unethical behavior of Trump. To this day, I don't understand why they chose to ignore his very dubious and shady past. B

I have no doubt in my mind that Trump has used the office of the President to enrich himself and to give himself an edge in the 2020 elections. He doesn't concern himself with such things like laws, propriety, morality, empathy, or upstanding. He was not someone to be admired prior to winning the election. He has not done anything to be admired during his administration. He will never be seen as anything other than a divisive person in American history.

Is this really the type of person we want our children to admire and look up to?

William: Being immoral is not an impeachable offense. Nor is being incompetent. As for corrupt, you'll need to be a tad more specific. More to the point, you'd probably have more credibility if you simply stated: "He's icky" and been done with it. As for "...one thing he has done that a positive (sic)…", well, it's hard to limit it to just one:

Just under 4 million jobs created since the election

Fastest growth in manufacturing jobs in three decades

Economic growth rate of 4.2% in Q3

    49 year low in unemployment

Lowest women's' unemployment rate in 69 years

    3.9 million off food stamps

    Record number of regulations eliminated

Tax reduction for everyone who pays taxes

Appointment of constructionist judges to all levels of judiciary

Have you looked at your 401(k) statement??

So I guess I'll live with icky and willingly vote for him again.

@ William P. What John Stark said.

@Warwick Freemason Trump does need a larger vocabulary. It would be good, very very good.

@ Cat "why they chose to ignore his very dubious and shady past"? Because Mr. Trumps indiscretions didn't happen while he held office. Clinton's happened while Governor and President. Clinton also attempted to throw Ms. Lewinsky under the bus to save his own @$$ while President. Clinton was found in contempt in a Federal District Court by a female Judge Susan Wright.

For Trump to have enriched himself by being President he would have to gain something. What? I do believe this is an ego trip for him and the fallout is bringing the U.S. back to more Constitutional roots. Which in my opinion is a good thing. I didn't vote for him or Hillary last time. I will be voting for him in 2020. The guy was already the head of a multi-national business and a billionaire.

Obama went and purchased a 14 million dollar estate on Martha's Vineyard I would consider that enrichment.

    @Peter Filippi Yes they have.

    @ John Stark Brilliant.

Strange how Trump is accused of colluding with Russians yet Obama was on a hot mic doing just that.

Interesting how Trump is accused of a quid pro quo with the Ukraine and there's video of Biden admitting to just that deal.

I didn't vote for Trump or Hillary last time. I will be voting for Trump in 2020.
