Joseph E. Joly, 102, of Cranston died Friday at the Saint Elizabeth Home. He was the husband of the late Helen A. (Joseph) Joly and the late Lorraine Jones-Joly.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Joseph and Alice (Drolet) Joly, he had been a Cranston resident since 1945. Mr. Joly was a salesman and haberdasher at Kennedy’s Men’s Clothing for thirty-five years before retiring. Joe was a proud member of the Pawtuxet Athletic Club. He was a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Home before becoming a resident.
He was the father of Jane E. Joly of Warwick, Frank J. Joly and his wife Cynthia of Cranston, David P. Joly and his wife Eleanor of Sarasota, FL and the late Gerard Joly; grandfather of Jennifer DelSesto and her husband, Richard; Jessica Palumbo and her husband, John; Melissa Joly, Kimberly Joly and Robert Mill; great-grandfather of Samantha Delsesto, Nicholas Delsesto, Emma Picard, Amelia Picard, Maeve Palumbo, Alioune Sow and Babacar Sow. He was the friend and companion of Ruth Ullrich and Alice Irons.
His funeral will be Tuesday at 9a.m. from the Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, 982 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Paul Church, One St. Paul Place, Edgewood at 10 a.m. Calling Hours Monday 4-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory to Saint Elizabeth Home, 1 St. Elizabeth Court East Greenwich, RI 02818 will be appreciated. Burial will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick. www.trainorfh.com
