Lighting up Cranston's Christmas tree

Posted

On a cool but refreshing Dec. 4 evening, Barbara Ann Fenton (Mayor Allan Fung’s wife) flipped the switch to light the City Christmas Tree in Cranston. City Hall was then illuminated with lights on the trees and shrubs.

After enjoying performances by the Cranston East Chorus and the children in the BASICS Holiday Glee Club, Santa Claus arrived aboard a Cranston fire truck with sirens blaring down Park Ave. As he climbed out of the front passenger seat, the crowd grew closer to him, greeting his arrival with the children very excited to see him.

Hot cocoa and cookies were served by the Cranston Senior Enrichment Center as children and their parents then rushed indoors for the perfect setting to sit with Santa. A couple of hundred people attended the festivities and left with a song in their heart and a touch of Christmas cheer.
