'Bolts keep rolling with another blowout victory

Posted

The offense was clicking once again Friday night for the Cranston East football team. The ’Bolts traveled to Central and raced out to a 35-0 lead by halftime in an eventual 48-6 victory over the Knights, improving East’s record to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in Division I.

The chemistry between quarterback Justin Neary and wideout Robenson Antoine was tough to stop for yet another opponent. After the duo connected for four touchdowns the week prior at East Providence, Neary and Antoine linked up for two more scores against Central on Friday, completing touchdowns of 15 and 20 yards. Antoine also added a pick six on defense to give him a total of three touchdowns on the night.

Rayven DeOliveira, Quinn Lanigan and Kei-Sean Felix had a rushing touchdown apiece, and DeOliveira also tossed a touchdown to senior receiver Isaiah Hinds.

East, which has outscored its opponents 133-33 through three games, will look to keep its momentum rolling at Cumberland (1-1) on Friday night at 7 p.m.

West girls’ volleyball team improves to 5-3

The Falcons rattled off their second straight win and fourth victory in their last five matches with a 3-1 win over Exeter-West Greenwich on Monday evening, winning the first, second and fourth sets by a combined score of 75-30.

Senior Katie Sleboda led the way with a balanced match, totaling four kills, four blocks and six aces. Junior Lauren Plociak also had a big night at the net with 10 kills.

West was set to travel to La Salle on Wednesday night, but results from that match were unavailable at press time.

East boys’ soccer remains unbeaten

Gabriel Sotelo, Ayodeji George, Richmond Miamen and Nathan Hardy each recorded a goal as the East boys’ soccer team cruised past Rogers, 4-1, on Friday at Cranston Stadium, upping the ’Bolts’ record to 6-0-1 in Division III.

Kerin Murillo didn’t score a goal in the game, but he was a huge part of the offense, dishing out three assists in the win. Noah Sylva also chipped in with an assist to help orchestrate some offense.

East was in search of its seventh win at Scituate on Tuesday, but the result was posted after the Herald’s deadline.

West boys’ soccer moves above .500 with win

The Falcons eked out a victory in a defensive battle against Mount Pleasant on Monday afternoon, 1-0.

After a scoreless first half, freshman Wrenano Honeyghan buried the game-winning goal in the second half, the game’s lone goal, to propel West to the narrow victory.

The defensive effort was highlighted by Garrett Doidge and Bryce Antoch, as the tandem combined for a shutout in net.

The Falcons are now 3-2 in Division II, and they’ll be back in action tonight at Mount Hope at 7 p.m.
