Recycle, Reuse, Repurpose
The goal of the three R’s is to protect the planet by eliminating waste. Learning to reuse, recycle and repurpose items extends the lifetime of those things and cuts down on creating waste. The presentation will be followed by a Recycling Game, in which gift cards will be awarded to the winners. You will learn while having fun.
Physical assessments
One of the major health problems facing older adults is the risk of a decreased level of physical functioning and the risk of falls. This physical assessment will test your mobility and falls risk. Assessments are by appointment and can be scheduled by calling 780-6000.
Heart Healthy Eats
Understanding the different types of fats, and what the AHA recommends for heart health, will help you make healthy choices.
A Memory Café
Friday, Oct. 11 at 10 a.m.Memory Café is a monthly gathering of individuals with memory loss along with their caregivers and/or friends and family in a safe, supportive and engaging environment. For more information, call 780-6254.
A Matter of Balance: Take a Stand to Prevent Falls
This free, award-winning program for participants age 60 or older is designed to help manage falls and increase activity levels. You will learn to view falls as controllable, set goals to increase your activity, make changes to reduce the risk of falling and use exercise to increase your balance. Registration is required, and space is limited. Call 780-6000.
Alzheimer’s Disease: Finding Hope Through Research
Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m.Join representatives from the four Rhode Island Alzheimer’s research sites to learn more about their leading-edge efforts to effectively treat and end the disease. Refreshments will be served. Space is limited. Register early by calling 780-6000.
