The Cranston Police Department hosted its annual National Night Out event on Aug. 6 at Garden City Center. Hundreds of residents turned out for the gathering, which is part of a nationwide effort designed to strengthen the bonds between law enforcement and the community.

Attendees enjoyed meeting members of Cranston’s special teams and the K-9 unit, as well as activities for children. A number of community partner organizations were represented, including the Cranston Family Center, CCAP Substance Abuse Task Force, OneCranston, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island, the Rhode Island Secretary of State’s unclaimed property task force, the Cranston Public Library, Cranston Public Schools and the Cranston YMCA.
