NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

A Public Hearing on the following proposed Ordinance will be held before the Finance Committee on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. Council Chambers, 869 Park Avenue, Cranston, RI. pursuant to Section 3.12 of the Charter.

PROPOSED ORDINANCE

NO. 11-17-02 UTHORIZING THE CITY TO UTILIZE EASTERN

RECREATIONAL IMPACT FEES FOR A DOG PARK AT

BEACHMONT FIELD

It is ordained by the City Council of the City of Cranston as follows:

SECTION 1. The of Cranston is hereby authorized under the authority vested in the Impact Fees Ordinance (No. 96-49, October 28, 1996) to utilize an amount not to exceed $10,000 of Eastern Cranston Recreational Impact Fees to construct a dog park at the abandoned tennis courts at Beachmont Field.

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon its final adoption.

PROPOSED ORDINANCE

NO. 11-17-05 AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO CONSTRUCT A DOG PARK AT FLORIDA AVE.

(SIVO MEMORIAL DOG PARK)

It is ordained by the City Council of the City of Cranston as follows:

Section 1. Title 12, Section 20.190 is hereby amended by adding thereto the following new paragraph:

12.20.190 ESTABLISHMENT OF SIVO MEMORIAL DOG PARK

1. The area located on Florida Ave. in the City of Cranston known as SIVO Park shall be renamed and repurposed from its current use, to a newly constructed dog park.

2. This new dog park shall be rededicated upon completion and shall be named THE SIVO MEMORIAL DOG PARK OF CRANSTON.

3. Said park is being constructed in accordance with the enabling legislation Cranston City Code 12.20.190 et seq., and in accordance with the City of Cranston Charter 3.16.

4. The Silva Memorial Dog Park of Cranston, shall be divided into two clearly marked and separated areas or sections of said park, specifically, one section for large breed dogs and one section for small breed dogs.

5. Pursuant to City of Cranston Code 12.20.210, the Director of Parks and Recreation shall make and publish a list of rules and regulations which shall govern the use of the park.

6. The Director of Parks and Recreation shall construct and operate said dog park in accordance with the best practices for said park taking input from other communities and associations which currently operate dog parks.

7. The park will be funded in part by Fund 203 as delineated in the FY18 City of Cranston Budget along with grants, sponsorships or private donations that may be realized.

Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its final adoption.
