NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

A Public Hearing on the following proposed Ordinances will be held before the Finance Committee on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. Council Chambers, 869 Park Avenue, Cranston, RI. pursuant to Section 3.12 of the Charter.

Complete copies of proposed Ordinances are available for public review at the City Clerk’s Office and the Cranston Central Library and can be viewed on the City’s website cranstonri.com under calendar by clicking on the meeting date.

“Individuals requesting interpreter services for the deaf or hard of hearing must notify the City Clerk’s Office at 461-1000 ext. 3197 seventy-two (72) hours in advance of the hearing date.”

PROPOSED ORDINANCE AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING JULY 1, 2018AND ENDING JUNE 30, 2019

(Mayoral Reorganization)

It is ordained by the City Council of the City of Cranston as follows:

SECTION 1: The salary schedule of the budget for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2019 is hereby amended by deleting:

Executive Department:

Position Classification Grade Step Salary

[Director of Administration Administrative 43 2 $80,649]

[Chief of Staff Administrative 37 4 $64,930]

[Communications Outreach Aide Administrative 23 6 $42,786]

And adding the following:

Director of Administration Administrative 43 5 $87,071

Deputy Director of Administration Administrative 37 4 $64,930

Community Outreach Aide Administrative 22 5 $35,139

SECTION 2: This ordinance shall take effect on January 3, 2019

PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 11-18-02 ATIFYING SCHOOL COMMITTEE’S COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WITH THE CRANSTON TEACHERS’ ALLIANCE, LOCAL 1704, AFT TEACHER ASSISTANT, TECHNICAL ASSISTANT, BUS AIDE UNIT (September 1, 2018- June 30, 2021)

It is ordained by the City Council of the City of Cranston as follows:

Section 1. The Cranston School Committee having bargained collectively with the Cranston Teachers’ Alliance Local 1704, AFT, which is the certified bargaining representative of Teacher Assistant, Technical Assistant, Bus Aide Unit as set forth in the attached contract and Addendum;

Section 2. , The School Committee in accordance with Section 11.02.1 of the Cranston Home Rule Charter posted and made public on November 14, 2018 a copy of the proposed contract at least 72 hours’ notice prior to the public hearing on November 19, 2018 at which time the School Committee voted to approve the attached agreement by a vote of 7-0.

Section 3. That the agreement in writing between the School Committee and the Cranston Teachers’ Alliance Local 1704, AFT, copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, is hereby ratified, confirmed and approved by the City Council.

Section 4. Any additional agreements, letters of understanding, contract addendums or modifications during the life of this collective bargaining agreement between the parties must be ratified by the City Council and comply with Charter sec. 11.02.1

Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its final adoption.
