This past Sunday, local restaurateur and Ward 4 Councilman Edward Brady, along with his staff at the Thirsty Beaver Hometown Pub and Grub, led by Chef Andrea Leonardo, prepared food for their ‘8th annual Homeless BBQ’ with Praise Tabernacle Church and The Rhode Island Dream Center.

Praise Tabernacle is located at 330 Park Ave in Cranston. The Church, in partnership with The Rhode Island Dream Center, ventures out nightly to feed those in need. Brady and his team partners with these organizations a few times a year for a summer BBQ and Thanksgiving dinners.

More than 250 people were bused in from throughout Rhode Island and got to enjoy music by Timeless Band and a buffet including hot dogs, wings from Pink Pig BBQ, hamburgers, pasta salad, macaroni salad, corn on the cob, beans, fruit, and desserts from 4Corners Coffee. Local company Yacht Club soda donated drinks and The Mae Organization for The Homeless provided clothing and toiletries. Warren Howard and Howard’s Landscaping also gave a donation that helped purchase some of the food.

Brady said “Its amazing to see so many great people from the community continue to come together to make a difference for those in need.”

“I was very fortunate to grow up in Cranston with two great parents that have given me every opportunity to succeed,” he continued. “They showed me through hard work anything is possible but I also know how difficult it can be for many families to put food on the table and that many families live paycheck to paycheck. We did not grow up wealthy and my brother and I were always raised to believe making a difference in other people’s life is the true definition of wealth and being kind to others is free”.
