America’s premier family-friendly pirate show, Pirate School!, comes to Ocean State Theatre for one performance only as part of Ocean State Theatre Company’s Family Fun Fest on Saturday, March 11 at 11 am.

Set sail with a madcap, swashbuckling comedy variety show for the whole family. Touring to theaters and family festivals nationwide, Pirate School! has captivated adventure-questing kids and their parents with its slapstick antics, adept magic, cartoon-like sound effects, eye-popping puppetry, eccentric props and active, full-audience participation. During the show kids learn the finer points of mischief and become "good pirates" - cooperating and carousing together, while getting the chance to live out their dreams of the Golden Age of the Buccaneer!

Featured in New York Magazine's "BEST OF NY: KIDS!,” veteran New York-based physical comedian and family entertainer David Engel is the bumbling pirate Billy Bones, who lives to teach zany lessons on how to stand, talk, laugh, eat and carouse like boisterous buccaneers. Pirate School! is certain to satisfy the courageous corsair in all who dare to attend. Welcome aboard! (Kids are encouraged to attend in costume.)

David Engel is an accomplished, award-winning entertainer performing over 250 shows a year at theaters, festivals, libraries, and corporate events nationwide. He has worked in TV, commercials and film and has been seen on stages across the US, Europe, Singapore and China. David has played for such notable companies as Steppenwolf Theater, 500 Clown, Redmoon Theatre, and for twelve years as a “clown doctor” with the Big Apple Circus’ world renowned in-hospital Clown Care Program.

Pirate School will be presented on Saturday, March 11 at 11 a.m. The theatre is located at 1245 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick, RI. Single tickets are $10 each with packages of three Family Fun Fest shows or more for $8.00 per ticket. Discount rates are available for groups of 20 or more by calling 921-1777 x112. Tickets are on sale at the box office Monday through Friday from 12 noon-6 p.m., Saturdays from 12 noon-4 p.m., and from 12 noon until curtain time on performance days. Tickets are also available online 24 hours a day at www.OceanStateTheatre.org and via telephone during normal box office hours by calling 921-6800.
