Police seek witness of Speedway armed robbery

Cranston Police are currently searching for the suspect in an armed robbery that took place at the Speedway on Reservoir Avenue on the night of Sunday, November 5. They are also looking to contact a witness at the Speedway who fled on foot during the robbery.

At approximately 10:50 p.m. Sunday night, Cranston Police received the call from the Speedway that an armed robbery had just taken place with a male who displayed a semi-automatic handgun. The suspect was described to police as a Hispanic male with a mustache and goatee who was wearing all black except for his white gloves.  The suspect was wearing a hoodie to cover his head.

Police believe that the suspect came to the gas station on foot from Sprague Avenue and displayed his gun to the cashier.  The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money and ran back out towards Sprague Avenue.

Nobody was injured during the robbery, but the suspect did point his gun at a witness who was in the store at the time. That witness, who is male, ran out of the store when the gun was pointed at him and hasn’t contacted the police since.  Major Patalano said that the department is actively searching for the witness and urges him to call the police department as soon as possible to provide any information on the violent crime, which could prove “vital.”

As for the suspect, there is an ongoing investigation to find him and the police department requests that anyone with information on the subject, based on photos obtained from the security cameras in the store, call the detective division of Cranston police at (401) 942-2211 or provide information through their smartphone app or anonymously through “TipSoft” online.
