Rain stops in time for Ward 5 tree lighting

Hosted by Ward 5 Councilman Chris Paplauskas, the 4th Annual Knightsville Gazebo Christmas Tree Lighting was held this past Sunday. Just as with all Christmas magic, the rain stopped just in time. There were approximately 200 in attendance for this annual tradition.

“Today was a Christmas miracle! The rain stopped just long enough to have our neighborhood Christmas Tree lighting,” said Paplauskas. “I want to thank all of the many volunteers, the food sponsors (Lou Umberto’s, Thirsty Beaver and 39 West), BASICS Holiday Glee, the St. Mary’s School Chorus and the St. Mary’s Feast Society Ladies Auxiliary for all of your help.”

The tree was donated by the Corso family at Maplewood Landscaping.

After the tree was lit, Santa Claus arrived by a Cranston Fire Truck as children quickly ran to him. He was available for photographs for the evening. Also, throughout the evening, a food tent was set up serving pizza, calamari, chicken wings and hot cocoa.
