On Sunday, Joe Ender of Johnston celebrated his 100th birthday with family at Twin Oaks in Cranston. Born in Cranston, Ender served time in the Navy during World War II on the USS Langley. Ender has four children, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is pictured with three of his children – Kathryn Isherwood, Rick Ender and Joe Ender – along with Jim Scanlan. Their brother, David, who lives out of state, could not make it to the luncheon. (Sun Rise photo by Steve Popiel)
