Cranston High School East’s Harold Alexieff was a member of the Elite Machinez robotics team, hosted by College Crusade of Rhode Island, that competed Saturday in the FIRST Tech Challenge held at the New England Institute of Technology automotive center in Warwick. Twenty-eight teams competed in the day-long event, where robots built and programmed by students were judged on completing such tasks as stacking blocks and returning to their posts within an allotted time. Alexieff, seen here with the team robot, aims to study engineering at the University of Rhode Island next fall. (Herald photo by John Howell)
