The weather outside was frightful, but the warmth inside was delightful.
While the city’s rescheduled Christmas tree lighting festivities were held inside City Hall on Dec. 10 due to the weather, the season’s spirit shone as members of the community took part in the celebration.
Domenic Kaffenberger, a junior at Cranston High School West, played the trumpet to open the program. The Cranston East High School Concert Chorus, directed by Emily Johnson, filled City Hall’s lobby with seasonal songs as children lined up to meet Santa Claus and his elf Julia and enjoy Christmas cookies and hot chocolate provided by the Cranston Senior Enrichment Center.
Additionally, “Happy Birthday” was sung to Barbara Ann Fenton-Fung, wife of Mayor Allan Fung, since the rescheduled tree lighting fell on her birthday this year.
