In recognition of World Down Syndrome Day on March 21, House Speaker Nick Mattiello met the Feole family of Cranston at Café International on Oaklawn Avenue.
The family members – who reside in the speaker’s district – were there to spread awareness of Down syndrome, handing out information and buying coffee for the first 21 people to arrive.
The speaker was invited to take part in the awareness effort, and in turn he invited the family to accompany him to the floor of the House of Representatives for its afternoon session to commemorate the day. The House passed a resolution in honor of World Down Syndrome Day.
