Special day

The Easter Bunny was busy on Saturday, April 20, at Fay Memorial Field in Cranston, during a free community Easter Egg Hunt.

Several hundred children and adults attended the event, hosted by the nonprofit organizations Esperanza-Hope and Lights & Sirens International. In addition to the 2,000 plastic eggs filled with candies and toys, the event featured photos with the Easter Bunny, face painting, games, prizes, food and music.

Ward 1 Councilwoman Lammis Vargas provided four special prizes to the children who found the golden eggs.

“Esperanza-Hope is thrilled to partner with Lights & Sirens International Nonprofit organization for this free community event,” said Wilda Gutierrez, president of Esperanza-Hope.

The mission of the nonprofit organization is to bring hope and inspire a positive vision of the future for children in Rhode Island and in the poorest communities of the Dominican Republic.
