City Hall played host to Cranston’s first-ever celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month on Oct 3.
The City Council in August unanimously adopted a resolution joining the national observance of the month, which occurs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. The local event featured an exhibition of work from Latino artists, a Latino-inspired poetry slam and performances from local folkloric groups.
“The first Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at Cranston City Hall was a success. Wouldn’t have happened without the unconditional support of the community,” said Ward 1 City Councilwoman Lammis Vargas, who introduced the resolution.
