Roots Salon, located at 832 Oaklawn Ave., was recently welcomed to the local business community with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Mayor Allan Fung.
Opening the salon is a dream come true for owner Michelle Murphy, who works at the former Salon O at the same location for seven years. The salon has undergone a full renovation since August.
“We are home to over 20 professionals, specializing in everything from eyelash extensions, facials and esthetics, all ranges of hair coloring and cuts and keratin treatments as well as Brazilian blowouts, pedicures and nails,” Murphy said.
She added: “Lots of us have been together for many years in that building, as it was previously named Salon O. I have hired four other amazing stylists since I took over last month.”
Murphy still has room for two more professionals, and her website will be up by the end of the month at rootssalonri.com. The salon is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and may be reached at 942-4002.
