100 angels

The 100 concert goers who died in the Station nightclub fire 16 years ago this Wednesday will be remembered quietly this year as no formal ceremony is planned until the 20th anniversary of the tragedy, Gina Russo, president of the Station Fire Memorial, said in an email this week. A survivor of the fire, Russo spearheaded the drive, co-chaired by former Gov. Donald Carcieri, to build the memorial at the site of the nightclub in West Warwick. A visit to the memorial on Sunday found Marilyn and Thomas Cadieux of Dartmouth, Mass. reading the names of the “100 angels” who lost their lives. The Cadiuexes have no direct connection to any the victims. They said they set out to walk Rocky Point and once that far decided to visit the memorial. (Warwick Beacon photos)
