Scooping up support for RI Baseball Club

FRIENDLY TEAM: Pictured are the players of the RI Baseball Club’s AAU 13U Diamond Division Team at Friendly’s on Reservoir Ave. at the kick-off of a three-day fundraiser held at the family restaurant. Friendly’s had agreed to donate by giving back 20 percent of each check to the team upon the presentation of a coupon. Last season, the team made it to the New England Regional Championship and placed second. They are coached by Jake Bartolo.

Rhode Island Baseball Club’s AAU 13U Diamond Division Team teamed up with Friendly’s on Reservoir Ave. to help fundraise for the team. Cranston Friendly’s General Manager Lauren Barnhardt is pictured with Jesenia Pop (as the ice cream cone) and Julia Palazzo, fundraising chairwoman for the team. Since 1992, the club has provided professional instruction for players of all ages and abilities. It offers a variety of options to enhance the skills of students, including winter and fall classes, summer camps and private lessons. The RI Baseball Club is located at the RI Baseball Institute at 2011 Post Road in Warwick. (Herald photos by Steve Popiel)
