Sprague Mansion hosts ‘Tour with Tea’ program

On June 27, guests participated in the Cranston Historical Society’s first evening “Tour with Tea” program at the Sprague Mansion.

The evening began with a brief movie about the Sprague family and the A&W Sprague Manufacturing Co., the textile mill located across from the mansion. Participants enjoyed sitting at the historic dining room table participating in lively discussion.

Tea was served with a sampling of Queen Victoria’s favorite cake. It is still served at the Royal Palace today. Gregg Mierka, resident manager at the Sprague Mansion, then continued the evening with a tour of the mansion and Carriage House.

The program is designed to be a small, intimate gathering. The next “Tour with Tea” is scheduled for Aug. 15 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $15 and seating is limited. Checks payable to Cranston Historical Society, 1351 Cranston St., Cranston, RI 02920, must be received by Aug. 12.
