Stars shine brightly at Auburn

On Aug. 7, about a dozen children attended the summer program at the Cranston Public Library’s Auburn Branch to learn about constellations, stars and space.

“There are different types of constellations that are visible during the year. It changes as the Earth rotates around the sun,” youth services librarian Martha Boksenbaum told the children.

The participants were given the opportunity to look at books Boksenbaum provided, explaining the formation of the constellations, how they were named and how to identify them.

After the reading portion, children got to make their own constellation viewers out of cardboard tubes, black construction paper and rubber bands.
