Once the King of Broadway, Max Bialystock hasn’t had a hit in ages. When Leo Bloom, the nervous young accountant sent to audit Max’s books, makes the offhanded observation that a producer could make more money off of a flop than a hit if he oversold shares of a show that failed, Max conceives a plan to produce the worst show in the history of Broadway, oversell shares in it, and guarantee himself and his new partner Leo a massive payday when it flops disastrously. But what if the show turns out to be a huge success?
