To The Pointe of Performing Arts
For all styles of dance instruction ~ and summer camps too
In an air-conditioned, spacious room, a petite ballerina bows with a flourish in front of a mirror-lined wall. Three-year old Ashley beams from ear to ear as her dance instructor and camp leader “Miss Liz” gently urges her forward into the limelight. Behind her stands a whole line of tutu- and leotard-clad fellow dancers, all waiting for a turn to practice their own graceful bows before the day’s recital. It has been another fun-filled day of dance at To The Pointe of Performing Arts’ summer camp and with the music to “Frozen” playing in the background, it has been busy, busy, busy!
This week, for the three to eight year olds, the theme has been all about “Frozen”, just as it will be all about pop stars and dance shows for the older girls. Weekly and age-appropriate themes are woven into every activity at this popular studio in Cranston ~ but mostly, it is all about the graceful tendus, the pliés, the arabesques and the pirouettes. It is all about the magic of DANCE!
Opened in 1999 by owner and creative director Sheri Masiello, the first To The Pointe of Performing Arts dance studios was located on Oaklawn Avenue in Cranston. Soon to follow were two more studios, one in North Providence and the other in Coventry. Classes are taught here in all styles of dance, from ballet to tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop and contemporary. There are even Zumba classes offered to help with bathing suit season! Dancers are welcome from as young as 18 months through adulthood ~ there is something at To The Pointe for everyone.
Summer camps are in full swing at To The Pointe. Masiello and her team of talented instructors have created a schedule of camp programs that are filled with fun, laughter and plenty of dancing. Children are divided by age into groups and are taught by instructors, all of whom, like Miss Liz, are experienced, supportive and trained teachers. The camps are not intended to be a place for babysitting. They are filled with planned activities that include not only music and dance, but also theme-related arts & crafts, games and healthy snacks. For older, more serious dancers, there is even a three-day intensive “So You Think You Can Dance” session.
Classes are available for full or half day options. Discounted rates apply for siblings and if your child is enrolled in multiple classes or camp sessions. Regular dance classes also continue here all summer.
