The 2nd Annual Magnolia Valentine's Day Family Celebration, hosted by Magnolia Pediatrics, located at 1450 Atwood Ave. in Johnston was held on Feb. 10 at the Cranston Christian Fellowship, 1114 Scituate Ave, Cranston.

Magnolia Pediatrics is an independent nurse practitioner practice focusing on providing palliative care for children and their families and is owned and operated by Linda Del Vecchio-Gilbert, DNP, CPNP-PC, ACHPN, Director and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

The whole month of February is American Heart Month and Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day is on February 14, so to celebrate, they held their 2nd Annual Magnolia Valentine's Day Family Celebration which included a magician, a balloon artist, a kissing booth handing out Hershey’s Kisses, goodie bags, snacks and beverages, a photo area, Valentine arts and crafts and much more for children and their families.

The mission of Magnolia Pediatric is to provide the best quality of life for any child living with a complex, chronic and/or life-limiting condition. Magnolia Pediatrics provides care that is meaningful and will foster the child and family’s hopes and will provide an extra layer of care, along with you, the primary care provider, to support the child and family’s emotional, social, spiritual, and physical needs.

Magnolia Pediatrics offers free group integrative therapies to enrich the child and family’s well-being including music therapy, art therapy, yoga, pet therapy, massage, reiki, and meditation, family education, and support groups.

Approximately 100 people of all ages attended the event, including some patients and members of the public. A big hit at the celebrations was Ruby Magnolia, a 6-year-old Schnoodle, who is a service/therapy dog at Magnolia Pediatrics who works along with the children under care.
