Calling all Falcons!

West hosts first Future Falcon Open House

In an effort to show the Cranston community all that Cranston High School West has to offer, Principal Tom Barbieri, along with his staff and students, hosted the first-ever Future Falcon Open House on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.

The event, which was well received judging by the full house attendance, was open to the public and was specifically geared toward future students and their families. There was a brief gathering in the auditorium that included performances from the Westernettes, Falconettes and the band, as well as speeches from the school administration, department heads, past alumni and current students, all touting the variety of opportunities at West.

Following the performances and speeches, guests were invited to sample light refreshments created by the Culinary Arts program at the Cranston Area Career and Technical Center housed at West. Musical entertainment was provided as guests walked through the cafeteria where representatives from school activities were set up with booths and information. School tours were also given by students wearing red “Ask Me!” T-shirts.

As the audience prepared to leave the auditorium for their tours, Principal Barbieri left them with one last message, sharing with them his reasoning behind the Future Falcons Open House.

“My favorite part of the day every day is when I walk through the school and make my classroom visits with the staff and students,” he said. “I want you to feel what I feel as I walk through here every day.”
