Three months ago, five fourth graders at Woodridge Elementary School took the initiative to raise money to buy toys for children at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, and that plan came to fruition this past week. The students were Natalia Jackson, ARian Velino, Taegan Daley, Amy Lee, and Lilliana Prendergast.
The students, all girls, approached their principal at Woodridge Elementary school and asked if they could host a "Funky Friday" in which students would donate $2 and dress as "funky" as they wanted.
The girls collected $265 from this idea and on Saturday went on a shopping spree at Toys R Us to select toys to deliver to Hasbro patients.
On Monday, the toys were delivered to the Child Life Manager at Hasbro, Angela Silveira, who distributed the toys.
