Isabelle (Thatcher) Donovan, 92, of Dyer Avenue, Cranston, died August 31, 2009 at her home surrounded by dear friends and caregivers. Mrs. Donovan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard. Isabelle was born in East Providence in 1917, the daughter of the late Marion (Chase) and Lathrop Thatcher. Mrs. Donovan was employed as an assembler at the CranstonArc from 1973 until her retirement in 2007. Mrs. Donovan was officially recognized as “Queen” of CranstonArc at her 90th birthday in 2007. Mrs. Donovan enjoyed travelling, visiting with friends and family. She was a proud and independent woman who was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Mrs. Donovan is survived by her dear friends, Maxine and Mike Mikolajewski of Arnold, Md.; her cousin, Rhonda Anderson of Warwick; her pastor, Steven Bacon; and many dears friends through the CranstonArc. Calling hours will be held Sept. 3 at 10 a.m. at Drabble, Sherman & Monahan, 230 Waterman St., Providence, with a service immediately following at 11 a.m. Internment will be at St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Donations may be made in Mrs. Donovan’s memory to CranstonArc, PO Box 20130, Cranston, RI 02920.
