Elect anyone governor in this state. Really. Even Mayer Corrente. You will get the same results.

Why?

The governor essentially has zero power. They can propose and run on reform but all they can deal with is the Department of Administration's efforts. And that is if the General Assembly gives them any money to implement reform.

The Speaker of the House is by far the most powerful person in RI guvmint. His word is law and will do anything to maintain his power. And he maintained his power of the one million RIers by 85 votes.

And the old adage about power corrupting is true. How many of the past speakers have left under a cloud of suspicion if not in actual handcuffs?

We need to overturn the power structure in the General Assembly. Don't vote the old power structure back in. Bring in new voices and new accountability. T.F. Green started this revolution last century. It is high time that we complete the revolution and bring balance to our state.

If we don't balance the dark side of the force, Darth Speaker will reign for ever.
