A golden year of celebrations
LOVE BIRDS: Anthony Marrapese came up with a balloon version of lovebirds when Janice Bourtemanche asked if he could make her a parrot. Turns out that Anthony and Janice were high school classmates.
THAT’S WHAT YOU CALL A HAPPY SLAP: It took a bit of prompting from their mother Kelsey Courcy, but twins Eden and Everly were thrilled after sharing high fives with the mall mascot, Happy.
CUPCAKE SMILE: Delores Bliss of the mall management team had to sample the cupcakes given shoppers Saturday and Sunday as part of the Warwick Mall 50th anniversary. She was pleased that she did. Celebration events will continue throughout the year.

HORSES CAN FLY: Joanne Plante and her daughter Taralyn were winners in a game of Disney Feud when they came up with horses as one of five animals that can fly in Disney productions.
Albeit several months later than planned because of the pandemic, the Warwick Mall launched a series of celebration events that started this weekend and will occur during the year to recognize its 50th anniversary. The official grand opening of the mall and ribbon cutting was on July 29, 1970. Naturally on Saturday, there was a cake, but not one to be cut up into pieces. That wouldn’t work given protocols for distancing. Rather, shoppers were given individually packaged cupcakes frosted in mall colors. On Saturday Rick Lataille of WRIK Entertainment engaged shoppers in games of Disney Feud, handing out shopping certificates to winners and losers. Anthony Marrapese of Balloon Twisting by Antknee made balloon creations giving them to delighted kids and their parents. On Sunday the fun continued with Lite Rock 105 and more cupcakes. A schedule of future observances hasn’t been set, but keep watching because they’ll be coming.
