As I navigate through this COVID thing, I wondered how my puppy Lucas feels.
He was a rescue that I got for my 60th birthday. He was just six months old. Now, three years later, we’ve become quite close.
I waited until I was semi-retired to adopt him because I wanted to be able to spend time with him. I wanted to enjoy our walks and have time for him. He is the mascot for my “Walk and Talk” at Rocky Point and my little buddy.
His life has not changed much since this pandemic except that I’m around all the time. He seems to enjoy it and I’ve learned so much from watching him. He has helped me learn to relax and our walks around the neighborhood have become a twice-daily event. He’s has quite the fan base and some neighbors even have treats for him!
It’s funny how dogs can bring people together. It seems that animals bring out the best in people. My grandchildren love him and he loves when they visit. They play in the front yard with him and walks around the neighborhood are abundant.
When it’s just him and me, I do find myself talking to him and sometimes I even answer for him. The best part is that he agrees with everything I do and loves me unconditionally. So, life with Lucas is good and I’m so grateful for his company!
