The Cranston Western and Cranston East Little League All-Stars have been busy the past week as their teams are looking to claim the District I Championships in hopes of advancing to the state tournaments.

Here is a recap of the action to this point:

The CWLL 12’s are off to a strong start in their district run, going 3-1 in their first four games and most recently picking up back to back shutout wins.

CWLL beat North Providence 10-0. Casey Carbone, Macin Galligan and Shamus McConnell all knocked in multiple runs. Galligan was stellar on the mound, pitching the complete game shutout while racking up eight strikeouts and allowing just three hits.

The team followed that up by getting an 8-0 win over Johnston the following game. Galligan and Tommy Casali had multi-run performances while Casali picked up the win on the mound, tossing a complete game gem with 11 strikeouts and only two hits allowed.

The CWLL 11’s shut out Johnston 4-0 to stay in the district hunt. Michael Bianco, Jacoby Cruz and Nolan Winters all knocked in runs at the plate while Winters got the win on the mound by striking out 11 batters in 5 2/3 innings of work and allowing no hits.

The CWLL 10’s are rolling in District I and picked up three wins in the first week of action and outscoring opponents 36-2 in that span. The team’s most recent win came against North Providence in a 5-2 win. Nazlin Benzan, Kameron Monahan and Brooklyn Bank all record RBI in the win while Monahan and Benzan combined for 13 strikeouts on the mound.

The team beat Fox Point 16-0 the previous game and was led by John Durante at the plate with three RBI while Matthew Beverly knocked in a pair of runs as well.

The CELL 12’s are rolling and remained unbeaten in the winners bracket. The team beat Mount Pleasant in a 14-1 decision and was led by Hunter Stys with four RBI. Patty O’Grady and Danny Mahoney also knocked in two runs each to propel the CELL offense. Cam Kane and O’Grady combined for the win on the mound and picked up nine strikeouts.

The CELL 11’s dropped a tough 4-2 decision to North Providence to fall to the losers bracket. Jhanmarcos Baez recorded six strikeouts for CELL on the mound and scored a run on offense while Oliver Reid also scored a run in the loss.
