THE NEXT THREE DAYS

***½

This 2010 Netflix film provides a couple of hours of escapism with an A list of stars and an exciting if implausible plot.

Elizabeth Banks plays the mother of a young boy and wife of a college English professor (Russell Crowe) who is sent to prison for the murder of her boss.

The evidence against her is overwhelming, and some interesting plot twists leave you unsure of her innocence.

Taken from an old French movie, the action is switched to Pittsburgh, with many shots of the city.

Liam Neeson has a cameo role has a former inmate who schools Crowe in the art of prison escapes.

A younger, slimmer Jason Beghe (“Chicago PD”) plays the detective on the case.

The escape is a bit over the top, but it is exciting and will hold your interest until the final scene.
