The Cranston Herald’s Athlete of the Week is wrestler Joey Corso, who took home the 195-state championship at the junior varsity states last weekend. Corso, who also plays football for the Falcons, decided to give wrestling a try this season as a senior and enjoyed immediate success. Not only did he prove to be the state’s best junior varsity 195-pounder, but he also filled in at times during the season for the varsity program and held his own against some of the top varsity grapplers in the state. Pictured above is Corso on the podium last week. (Submitted photos)
