BankNewport awards $27,000 in grants

BankNewport representatives visited with organizations that previously were awarded grants through the Bank’s All In Giving program. Grants totaling $27,000 were awarded to four organizations that support healthier living and provide resources to those in need, including The Groden Network, which is using its grant money to support its community and home-based treatment services in Smithfield, and The Hope Alzheimer’s Center, which is using its grant funding to help provide structured programming and activities to improve the health and well-being of those living with Alzheimer’s and other cognitive disorders. The Thundermist Health Center and Visiting Nurse Home and Hospice also received funds from the Bank for their efforts.

“As a true community bank, supporting those who support our neighbors is essential to our mission,” said Jack Murphy, President and CEO, BankNewport. “We are extremely proud to contribute to the nonprofit community throughout Rhode Island who perform tireless and selfless work to care for those in need.”

The Hope Alzheimer’s Center in Cranston was founded in 1995 to provide a safe, caring, therapeutic and enjoyable health program for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory disorders.

“We are extraordinarily grateful to Bank Newport for their generosity, which has allowed us to enhance our therapeutic activity program with musical entertainment and various art and exercise classes,” said Ellen Grizzetti, President and CEO, Hope Alzheimer’s Center. “These types of programs improve quality of life for our participants and provide peace of mind for their dedicated caregivers.”

Thundermist Health Center works to improve the health of patients in the communities of Warwick, Woonsocket, and Rhode Island’s South County by delivering exceptional healthcare, removing barriers to that care, and advancing healthy lifestyles. BankNewport’s grant will help support Thundermist’s Human Service and Dental Care programs, as well as the renovation of its new facility.
