Bertha E. (Denton) Gilbert, age 99, of Warwick, and formerly of Cranston, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at West Shore Health Center. She was the wife of the late Charles K. Gilbert.

Born in East Providence, a daughter of the late Ernest F. and Mabel (Batchelor) Denton, she lived in Cranston for 54 years before moving to Warwick in 2013. During World War II, Mrs. Gilbert participated as a volunteer for the White Cross. She was later a Girl Scout leader for both Gaspee Plateau and Edgewood. She was a member of Pawtuxet Baptist Church and their Ladies Society. She was also a member of the Pawtuxet Senior Citizens.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen J. Horton and her husband William; a son, Kenneth C. Gilbert and his wife Cheryl; a grandson, William J. Horton, IV and his wife Lisa; and two great-grandchildren, William J. Horton, V and Jameson C. Horton; all of Warwick. She was the sister of the late Gertrude M. Heinemann, Ernest F. Denton, Jr., and Raymond Denton.

Her funeral and burial will be private.
