East boys swim to win

The Cranston East boys and girls swim teams traveled to Roger Williams University on Monday night and took on Portsmouth for a midseason battle in the pool.

The East boys had an impressive outing and rolled to a 61-28 victory over the Patriots. The East girls came up short, though, falling by a score of 54-35.

Here are some of the results from the night:

East’s relay team of Max Schleifer, Wyatt Harris, Jayden Symonds and Manny Baez won the 200 medley while Schleifer won the 200 freestyle. Baez then won the 50 free while Symonds took first in the 100 free. Jessiel Loeza later won the 500 free.

Harris, Loeza, Baez and Justin Sadowski won the 200 free relay while Schleifer won the 100 back. Schleifer, Baez, Harris and Symonds would combine to win the 400 free relay.

Loeza finished second in the 200 free while Symonds took second in the individual medley. Alejandro Rosales-Lopez took second in the 100 fly while Isaac Barbosa took second in the 100 free.

Harris went on to take second in the breaststroke while Loeza, Barbosa, Sadowski and Rosales-Lopez finished second in the 400 relay.

For the girls, Elaine Wu won the individual medley while Madeline Baxter took first in the breaststroke. Ruby Houle, Baxter, Hannah Jimenez and Grace Michaelson combined to win the 400 relay.

Wu, Jimenez, Baxter and Samaira Sierra combined to place second in the 200 medley relay, while Houle took second in the 50 free. Wu took second in the 100 fly while Houle placed second in the 100 free.

Sierra took second in the backstroke.
