Lost? Wondering how to get back to the west bay from East Providence, Kyle Sirlik of Pawruxet has the ideal Christmas ornament - a wooden laser cut map showing you the way. GPS couldn’t have done it so well. A native Rhode Islander who has a passion for biking and kayaking - “I love the Ocean State) – graduated from URI and produces videos. It was working with famed URO professor of oceanography, Robert Ballard, that ignited his interest in cartography. He has collected maps from all over the world and has embarked on recreating them in wood. He’s made ornaments of Pawtuxet Village, Block Island and Mantunuck that are sold at Tales Twice Told in Pawtuxet. And when the west bound lane of the Washington Bridge closed Kyle saw the opportunity for a detour ornament. Kyle is pictured with Karen Calkins who runs the store, which incidentally, you should be able to find on your GPS. (Warwick Beacon photo)
