Broadway Tire opens in Johnston

It was vintage Mayor Joseph Polisena on a recent Thursday morning at 1307 Hartford Ave. in Johnston.

Although rain was coming down in buckets, as the old adage goes, Polisena declared “this is another beautiful day in Johnston.”

Polisena, who was accompanied by his son and Town Council Vice President Joseph Polisena Jr., performed what he’ll tell you has been one of his most favorite duties in his storied tenure as mayor.

The mayor welcomed yet another new business to town and emphasized: “It is the small businesses that drive the economic engine of our town. It is a pleasure to welcome Jim Hallenbeck and Broadway Tire to Johnston.”

“We appreciate you coming to Johnston,” Polisena told Hallenbeck and a team of seven key employees. “This is a great facility as well as a great addition to our business community.”

The Mayor then proceeded a read an Official Commendation, which read in part: “Representing all the citizens of Johnston, I am honored to extend sincere congratulations to you upon the opening of Broadway Tire in town. I would like to express the hope for success and best wishes now and in the years to come.”

Soon thereafter, the morning’s down pour stopped and two employees of the full-service tire company rolled out a huge Broadway Tire banner for the traditional ribbon cutting.

Polisena and Hallenbeck then cut the red ribbon and Johnston became the third such site for Broadway Tire that is also located in Providence and Warwick.

There was applause – and special smiles of the faces of Team Broadway Tire when Hallenbeck was asked if he has further expansion plans in Rhode Island.

“My goal is to have full-service coverage throughout the state,” said Hallenbeck, who also owns Premier Auto Service and Detailing in Warwick on the property adjacent to Broadway Tire. “We are looking forward to serving our neighbors in Johnston.”

Broadway Tire in Johnston in tire is also under the say-to-day leadership of Operations Manager Mark Chutjian and Manager Steve Jordan and is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday’s from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The store is closed on Sunday.

The Johnston store also offers full tire service and sales as well as automotive repairs.

“Broadway Tire is certainly a welcome addition to our town,” the mayor said while he and his son Joseph Jr. shook the hand of each employee during the brief yet fun-filled ribbon cutting. “We are proud to have such a great facility – and business -- here in Johnston.”
