Broadway's back at PPAC

Lynn Singleton and his staff have not been sitting idle during the past year.

The attractive façade on Westminster Street has been completely redone over the past nine months.

New exterior lighting has been instilled, along with 2,300 terracotta stone tiles.

A state-of-the-art air filtering system has been installed, one of only two in Rhode Island.

“Broadway is back at PPAC,” Singleton declared as he announced the theatre’s Performing Arts Series for 2021-22.

“Our 44th season opens with ‘Pretty Woman: The Musical,’ October 9-16, 2021, and ‘Hamilton’ will return for two weeks, from Nov. 30 to Dec. 12,” PPAC’s president and CEO announced.

PPAC is now a Global Biorisk Advisory Council STAR accredited facility. GBAC is the gold standard for cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention.

All staff and guests will have their temperatures taken before entering the theater, and anyone with a temperature will not be allowed in the building. Masks will be required as outlined by state and local officials. All guests must hand sanitize before entering and 6-foot markers have been placed where lines may form.

Chairman of the Board Joseph W. Walsh of Warwick praised the staff for their hard work in making the facility as safe and clean as possible, emphasizing that in order to succeed, the performances must remain as near capacity as possible. Eighty percent of PPAC’s season subscribers have already committed.

The lineup includes old standards like “Oklahoma” and “My Fair Lady,” and newer musicals like “Prom” and “An Officer and a Gentleman.”
