CACTC's Landi named to national advisory panel

Cranston Public Schools and the Cranston Area Career and Technical Center have announced the appointment of InfoTECH instructor Dustin Landi to the prestigious CompTIA National Career and Technical Education (CTE) Advisory Council. The council includes representatives from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

CACTC Director Zachary Farrell announced the news late last week.

“We're thrilled about Dustin’s recent appointment to the CompTIA National Career and Technical Education Advisory Council. He is truly an asset to career and technical education not only here in Cranston, but across the state, and will ensure that Rhode Island is well represented at the national level,” Farrell said.

The announcement came during Career and Technical Education Month, a public awareness campaign to celebrate the value of CTE and the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs across the country. Landi will now be part of the national conversation focusing on accelerating career pathways in technology.

“We strongly believe that CTE will play a critical role in our recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, which has devastated household finances and changed educational plans for many families,” Angel L. Piñeiro Jr., vice president for strategic academic relationships at CompTIA, said in a press release. “With the help of an elite group of educators and other leaders we intend to raise national awareness of CTE as a creator of opportunities for careers that will provide a better way of life for multiple generations to come and to do so in a way that addresses digital inequity head-on.”

“Our Career and Technical Center is the best in the state, and our instructors are the reason for that,” Cranston Superintendent Jeannine Nota-Masse said. “We could not be more proud of Dustin’s appointment to the CompTIA National Career and Technical Education (CTE) Advisory Council. And we are excited that one of our own will be involved in national conversations about Career and Technical Education.”
