April 24: Reminiscing … Down Memory Lane: The Cranston Senior Center invites individuals to a heartwarming intergenerational program titled Reminiscing … Down Memory Lane on Thursday, April 24, from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Join us as second-graders from Garden City School visit the center to share stories and spark conversations about how school life has changed over the years.
April 26: Cranston YMCA at 1225 Park Avenue will host its annual Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, offering free, family-friendly events from noon to 3 p.m. Activities will bring health and fun together in a high-energy, community-driven celebration. The event is free and open to the public, including non-members. In addition, anyone who signs up for a YMCA membership on Healthy Kids Day will have their joiner fee waived — a savings of up to $97, depending on membership type.
April 26: Earth Day cleanup with the Edgewood Waterfront Preservation Association from 10 a.m. to noon at Stillhouse Cove in Edgewood and Pawtuxet Park. To register, visit: www.stillhousecove.org
April 26: Almost May Breakfast, the Woodridge Congregational United Church of Christ, at 546 Budlong Rd. in Cranston, will host its 41st Almost May Gourmet Breakfast on Friday, April 26, from 8 to 11 a.m. with continuous seating throughout the morning. This all-you-can-eat event features a menu of scrambled eggs, frittatas, jonnycakes, waffles, ham, sausage, home fries, Holly’s famous baked beans, strudel, muffins, assorted pastries, juice, milk, coffee and tea. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 5 to 12, and will be available at the door.
April 26: Drug Take Back Event Drop off your unwanted, unused or expired prescriptions and other medications on Friday, April 26 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Cranston Senior Center, 1070 Cranston St., where they will be properly disposed of for you. Accepted medications include prescription medication, ointments and liquids, over-the-counter medications, vitamins and pet medications.
April 30: “’Tis the Season”: the Cranston Senior Center will host a session on allergies and answer the questions of those looking to understand. It will be on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the center, 1070 Cranston St.
May 3: Oaklawn Grange Jr. will host the Grange and Membership Drive Family Fun Day on Saturday, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at 24 Searle Ave. Contact Maria for more info at 499-0796 or visit the Grange Facebook page.
May 9: Gaspee Days will kick off on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Museum Night at the Aspray Boat House and the Pawtuxet Rangers Armory, both in Warwick. Tickets are $30 and include a beer or glass of wine at both locations and a Gaspee Days commemorative glass or mug.

May 18: Garden City Center Farmer’s Market: The first one held this season will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Garden City Center’s gazebo. Each week on Sunday will also bring live entertainment and a pop-up beer garden courtesy of Avvio Ristorante. It will be held rain or shine, but please register on Eventbrite.
May 18: Rhode Island Civic Chorale and Orchestra (RICCO) will have a performance titled “Requiems” on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 237 Garden Hills Drive. Get tickets at www.ricco.org.
May 19: Reading Week 2025 at Edgewood Highland School. While reading week is primarily aimed at children and schools, it’s a great opportunity for older adults to engage with children. Transportation to Edgewood Highland School is available free from the Cranston Senior Center. Beginning May 5 ending June 13: Walk with Ease Need relief from arthritis pain or just want to be active? Join the Cranston Senior Center’s “Walk With Ease” with a twist: you walk alone or with friends three times a week for six weeks as far and as long as you are comfortable. All you need to do is keep a log of the days that you walk. Register by calling 401-780-6000.

Free gun locks at Cranston and Warwick public libraries: Secure storage of weapons is now the law in Rhode Island. A free gun lock and information about securing weapons safely is now available at two locations: Cranston Central Library reference desk, 140 Sockanosset Cross Rd., Cranston, and the Warwick Central Library reference desk, 600 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Residents from all Rhode Island communities are welcome. This event is not endorsed by or affiliated with the Cranston Public Library.
Oaklawn Grange needs used clothing items at the donation shed, 24 Searle Ave., Cranston. Accepted items include only used clothing, shoes, belts, purses, linens, pillowcases, blankets, curtains and stuffed animals. All items must be in usable condition. NAMI-RI Offers Family Support Groups: The RI chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness offers free support groups for families and friends of loved ones struggling with mental health. Groups are led by trained facilitators with experience with family members. Meetings last 90 minutes and everyone gets a chance to share.
