Cranston High School East is defined by, and proud of, its traditions. One of the most popular is the pep rally and parade down Park Avenue.
Despite the dark, wind and cold, students, parents, alumni and other supporters gathered on the school’s steps to follow the football team, cheerleaders and marching band to Cranston Stadium for the Homecoming Game on Nov. 7.
Cranston police shut down traffic on Park and Reservoir avenues to allow the parade to march the approximately half mile to the stadium.
East Principal Sean Kelly offered words of encouragement and support to the crowd.
“I am proud to be the principal here at East. We have students that excel in all areas, and tonight we will get to see an example of that as the band plays and our athletes take to the field. East is a school deep in tradition and pride. Thank you all for coming tonight, and showing your support,” he said.
Assistant Superintendent Jeannine Nota-Masse also spoke.
“It is an amazing display of love and support to see so many of you here tonight,” she said. “I look forward to an exciting game, and being part of the East community. Let’s have a great game, and go Bolts.”
To cap off the evening, East was victorious in the game against South Kingston, 35-14.
